Hungarian-style stew (Lecso)

  • Fullsteam Oven
  • Cooking cycle: P08S / S08 / Grill + steam roasting
  • 15 min
  • Vege

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • Onions 150 g
  • Mixed red, yellow, green peppers 700 g
  • Green or red hot pepper 1 pcs.
  • Sunflower oil 60 ml
  • Hungarian sweet peppers 20 g
  • Ripe tomatoes (tinned Pellati tomatoes) 800 g
  • Garlic cloves 2 pcs.
  • salt, sugar, pepper to taste

Method:

  • Cut onion into feathers and mix with diced peppers. Add sweet peppers, scalded, peeled and chopped tomatoes or tinned tomatoes, and finely chopped garlic.
  • Sprinkle the vegetables with salt, drizzle with oil, place in a pot, then place in the oven on the Grill + Roasting with steam cycle / P08S. Stew Lecso until soft, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Then season to taste and stir well before serving

Chef's suggestion:

Hungarians serve this meat-free stew with paprika as a side dish to meat. Pork chops and Lecso are, so to speak, Hungarian classics. Lecso with spicy sausage and smoked bacon is usually served with fresh bread. It can also be served with groats or potatoes. It is exactly the same as we serve bigos in Poland.
